Position Available: Executive Director - Senior Public Service Administrator (Option 7) - 4007007
Subject to Board approval, this individual serves as the Executive Director for the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. Serves as a chief administrative official and makes decisions impacting the overall agency management and statewide operations. Recommends Illinois Law Enforcement and Training and Standards Board policy which fixes objectives and/or states principles to control action toward operating objectives. Serves as the spokesperson for the Board. Drafts legislative proposals and/or amendments to existing statutes, policies, and procedures. Monitors and reports to the Board recent legislation passed affecting law enforcement statewide. Testifies at committee hearings and legislative inquiries pertaining to pending legislation. Ensures the overall evaluation of existing law enforcement training and certification programs and Board-certified training academies. Directs and controls the formulation of the Board's annual budget, including annual appropriation requests and requests for additional supplemental funding. Serves as spokesperson for the Board with the Office of Management and Budget staff, House and Senate appropriations directors and staff, and various legislators on matters as they pertain to the budget. Serves as full-line supervisor. Establishes and maintains effective inter-governmental, public, and professional relations for the Board.
